When I first saw this bird I was in a small boat, fishing in a lagoon among the mangroves. Moving very slowly with the tide I managed to get within 15 feet of the egret, without arousing it's attention. I slowly reached for my camera and hit the shutter. This is the result of that special encounter. The tangled mangrove roots were in full shadow, hence the black background Taken in the mangrove forest less than 50 yards from my home. Sea Pines ,Florida. The Sunshine State ......enjoy.
