Artist's Description
When I took this photograph of an endangered Florida Panther female I didn't realize that her breath was visible. As she bared her fangs and hissed menacingly the moisture in her breath became visible to the camera but not me because I was just a tad skittish.Once on the brink of extinction the Florida panther is slowly rebounding. This individual shows all of the tenacity and will to survive needed for these large cats to recover in their ever shrinking world

Yes, I think I'd be a little skittish too with such a big cat hissing and snarling! Great portrait of it, Stuart. They've re-introduced panthers into our area here in Southern, Indiana, to keep the deer population down, people are saying...however, it took the DNR or what ever organization did it, a long time to finally admit that they did. Many sightings of the brown Cougar..and also of black panthers have been reported in the last few years. I do know that I would not want to let my small children play outside unattended in the remote rural areas around here! Anyway...wonderful capture, with it's breath visible!
