Description
This is a fossil specimen of an ancient seabed, from my collection. The conical snails (mollusks) are called Turritella which have been in existence from the Miocene (50 ml yrs) and still exist today. The illusion is that the snails look as if they are three dimensional when in fact the are only impressions of the ancient Turritella in the matrix. Conceived and created with a Nikon D850 in the 'Jelly Jar Studio' located in Florida. The Sunshine State.

How have I missed this. The fossils of the shells are incredible and yes, look like they are three dimensional although simply the tell that they were once there. Such a wonderful find! :-) Maggie
